Digital modernization of Krasnoyarsk International Airport: convenient navigation, information and effective advertising

  • About the Company
Krasnoyarsk International Airport named after D. A. Hvorostovsky is a large regional transport hub with high passenger traffic and well—developed infrastructure. Dozens of services operate on its territory: from check-in counters and waiting areas to commercial spaces with cafes and shops.
  • Project Objectives
Before the introduction of the SMARTPLAYER, the information display system was decentralized. For example, the flight schedule and some of the information content were updated locally: there was a separate computer behind each panel, which required manual operation and maintenance. This made updating data more difficult, increased the workload on staff, and created risks of errors.

Our team has been tasked with integrating all the screens into a single control system. It was necessary to ensure stable round-the-clock operation of information panels and to divide the content by types and zones. It is important to centrally manage the impressions and at the same time take into account the specifics of different locations, including areas with audio accompaniment.
  • Project implementation stages
Screens are installed in different parts of the terminal, each of which performs its own function: broadcasts flight schedules, informs passengers or shows advertising content. In total, we are talking about about 180 panels distributed throughout the building, including the business lounge in the Business Terminal.

The project began with the transfer of key screens to centralized management via server hardware from the SMARTPLAYER software. This made it possible to abandon local computers behind information panels and significantly simplify the infrastructure.

Next, the logic of content distribution was built. Information screens operating 24/7 have received separate broadcast scenarios with an emphasis on data stability and relevance. And the advertising content is displayed on separate panels in areas with high passenger traffic.

Special attention was paid to video walls with scheduled departures and arrivals. Four screens are combined into a single canvas and placed at several key points of the airport, which makes the information visible and easy to perceive. Commercial areas such as cafes use standard televisions integrated into a common system. It was also possible to work with sound for individual advertising surfaces, which expanded the scenarios of interaction with passengers.
  • Results
As a result, Krasnoyarsk Airport has received a single digital ecosystem that covers all types of screens, from information panels to advertising media.

Content management has become centralized: updating schedules, launching advertising campaigns, and setting up the broadcast schedule are performed remotely and take a minimum of time.

The abandonment of local computers behind screens has reduced maintenance costs and increased system reliability.

Video walls with timetables have improved navigation for passengers, and a clear division of content into zones has made communication clearer and more efficient.
