Implementation of a Digital Navigation and Centralized Media Management System at Abu Dhabi Plaza

  • About the Client
Abu Dhabi Plaza is one of the largest multifunctional complexes in Kazakhstan, located in the very heart of Astana. With a total area of over 500,000 m², the complex includes:
    • Class A office spaces
    • Residential apartments
    • An international hotel
    • A modern shopping and entertainment center

Abu Dhabi Plaza features the tallest building in Central Asia (311 meters, 75 floors) and stands as a landmark of Kazakhstan’s architectural and infrastructural development.

At the start of the project, the complex already had an extensive multimedia infrastructure — information kiosks running on Linux, LED screens, and panels from various manufacturers. However, the equipment operated separately, with no unified management system, and interactive features of the kiosks were not utilized.
  • Project Objectives
Our goal was to take Abu Dhabi Plaza’s digital infrastructure to the next level. The key project objectives were:

    • Unify all multimedia equipment (kiosks, LED screens, panels) within a centralized SmartPlayer management platform

    • Implement interactive navigation, enabling visitors to quickly find stores and services and build routes inside the shopping mall

    • Optimize staff workflows through automated content updates and a single management interface

    • Enhance visitor experience and engagement, making their time in the complex more enjoyable and convenient
  • Implementation Stages
The project was implemented in collaboration with our partner DIGIS Integration.

    • Autumn 2023 — Launch of the pilot project. Abu Dhabi Plaza tested the SmartPlayer system on the first touch kiosks and purchased a one-year subscription for operation.

    • Winter 2024 — Development of the kiosk usage concept and preparation of the technical specification for the navigation system.

    • May 2024 — Approval of the technical specification and start of software development tailored to the complex’s infrastructure and goals.

    • October 2024 — System deployment and staff training. The SmartPlayer system was implemented across all kiosks in the shopping center.

    • July 2025 — Launch of the second project phase: system updates and further development based on Abu Dhabi Plaza’s new requirements.
  • Results
    1. Centralized Management
All multimedia infrastructure within the complex is now unified on the SmartPlayer platform. Content, schedules, and devices are managed centrally via an intuitive web interface.

    2. Interactive Navigation
Touch kiosks received a new, modern interface and additional features:
    • Search for stores and services
    • Route planning within the complex
    • Viewing current promotions and offers

    3. Improved Visitor Engagement
Interactive features made navigation within the mall more convenient and enjoyable, turning interaction with digital screens into a useful and engaging experience.

    4. Flexibility and Scalability
The new system architecture allows easy integration of additional devices, modules, and features — ensuring smooth digital growth of the complex without significant costs.

    5. Long-Term Development
The project continues to evolve: in 2025, Abu Dhabi Plaza initiated the second phase of development, confirming the system’s relevance, technological strength, and value to the client.
  • Conclusion
The implementation of the SmartPlayer system marked a key milestone in Abu Dhabi Plaza’s digital transformation.

The complex now benefits from a modern, user-friendly, and flexible navigation and media management system that enhances the visitor experience, increases operational efficiency, and lays a solid foundation for future digital development.
